Meet the Founder

Crystal K. Waters, PhD
Founder & Executive Director
Hello! I started this foundation as a way to give back after achieving global success as a Battery Research Scientist. I grew up in Wilson, NC and did not know the vast possibilities that existed in STEM. Now, my mission it to bring educational STEM resources to underserved, underpopulated communities by bridging the gap between science, education, and the community.
I grew up in a family of educators which created a foundation of belief in the power of education. The more we know, the more we are able to dream, create, and accomplish. Science has been a major pillar in my life; therefore, figuring out how to merge science and education has become a passion.
My goal is to bring creative, innovative ideas to the communities that have supported my journey in STEM. I view it is my contribution to society! This is why I created the Waters Initiatives in Science & Education (WISE) Foundation. I’m excited to embark on this journey with each of you!
